OGC x Swamp Dog Collab

Early this summer, we reached out to Swamp Dog Outfitters, a local faith based, outdoor driven clothing company in Wake Forest. The intent was just to drum up some visibility for our products, but we were fortunately met with some awesome support! 

We got to speaking with Jack, Swamp Dog Outfitters’ owner and decided that doing a small collaboration would be a great way to continue to spread the word about our messages and our companies! 

To kick off the project, we discussed what fragrances would represent both Swamp Dog and Old Groundhog Co., well. The consensus was scents that would feel both inviting and warm while still feeling reminiscent of the outdoors. With that in mind, the OGC team picked through countless fragrance oils and landed on four that we thought would embody the vision. 

We got to work and made sampler candles of each scent. We burned the heck out of them and then gathered together with Jack again, to pick the final favorite. We landed on a fragrance that has cypress, plum and wood mixed together. 

While all of this was happening, we were also discussing what a collaboration label could look like and what we’d want to name our candle. You can see our final designs on the candles now. 

As a group, we decided to title the candle John 12:46. Instead of coming up with a vague naming strategy, we decided to use a bible quote that really felt meaningful and relevant to the product and our collaboration. These wood wick, soy candles are meant to bring the gospel into your home in an enticing way and to help you start some interesting conversations!
